How do I clean my wig? What do I use to care for my hairpiece? When is it time to clean my wig? At Gayla Wigs we will help educate you in every aspect of how to care for it.
Transitioning into a hairpiece is a process, and our highly trained professional stylists are here to help with any questions you have.
Depending on whether you have a wig or hairpiece constructed with human hair or synthetic fibers, there will be different care techniques. For both wig types, you should always store them on a mannequin or wig stand when not in use. All wigs come with manufacturer’s instructions that we recommend you follow, but keep in mind your environment and lifestyle could demand slightly different treatment. In general though, you should clean your wig or hairpiece every 10-14 days of wear.
Your synthetic wig or hairpiece should only be cleaned with products designed specifically for synthetic or blended hair. Even with human hair wigs, special products should be used because the hair has been processed for construction and is susceptible to damage. Once you have shampooed and conditioned with the recommended hair products, the wig should be rinsed with cool water, blotted dry with a towel, and left to dry overnight.
We know personally how hair loss affects more than just your self-esteem, it impacts your very soul! Our goal has been to help restore our clients’ dignity with beauty, concern, and compassion.
